Hi and welcome to //ON STUDIO. I create melodic trap beats and use a tablet for the production. I live between Germany and the UK and have been making music since August 2021. It has been ran as a small business since August 2021 and I am registered with PRS, MCPS, UTM and I have a lawyer for contracts.
Waveform is the Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) that I use and it is free from the www.tracktion.com website. They are great guys and we exchange messages more often now that I have upgraded to the Waveform 12 Pro software.
Choosing the right sounds that suit your style is key. I have changed between a few instruments and you will learn about what I use further below.
If you are a hobbyist interested in a production setup I always have a spare laptop or tablet in the apartment. It will ship with Waveform, my sound kit, a MIDI keyboard and a set of earphones. These setups cost around £600. It is possible to use these budget builds to make beats and generate an additional income from streaming and sales.

I have a YouTube channel with cookup videos for those interested in the production process. The video above this text demonstrates my general production from start to finish. I mostly use the internal keyboard of my tablet to play in each sound, making it 100% portable and I have since stopped using my 25-Key Akai keyboard. I can create music with just the tablet, a small audio interface (DAC) and headphones.
YouTube isn't being used for monetization, it was only created to demonstrate what I am doing while making music.

Being skilled on a musical instrument makes projects more involving for me. I never know which key my music is in, because I play everything by ear. Whatever I whistle or play out on the piano is exactly what you hear in the final track.
Several producers use a laptop with a set of headphones and play the instruments using the internal keyboard. One of my favourite rappers and producers from London who goes by the name 'Shizz McNaughty' showed me this technique and I began to use it more while travelling in Atlanta. My small 25-key Akai keyboard is hardly used so I will sell it soon.

The setup is small and portable. I used to use an M1 MacBook Pro but switched devices after getting annoyed with glitches and compatibility issues. The laptop itself was great but I couldn't cope after a year of it stressing me out.
The computer I now use is a Surface Pro tablet. It is a great device and I notice zero performance loss since changing from the M1 Pro. It is a shock considering the MacBook cost over 1400€. I paid 400€ on eBay for the tablet and use the same device to run my engine tuning business, including vehicle programming. I have a few other small ideas/businesses online and everything is controlled from the tablet alone. It is really thin and light - half the weight of the MacBook.
My second device is my Nothing Phone 1 that I sometimes use for vocals. It has FL Studio mobile installed which is the best DAW I could find to record my voice and others with modern effects at a good price. I think I paid something like 15€ for FL which is nothing. I recently bought FL Studio Mobile for the tablet (it is available in the Windows store) because a small screen gets a bit fiddly at times. For mobile recording, i.e. in a hotel room I can still use the phone and get a great result from somebody singing or rapping.
The Akai LPK25 Wireless keyboard is 100% perfect and highly recommended. I bought it secondhand from PB Recommerce which is an online store in Berlin, Germany. They sell a lot of studio equipment at a decent price - I think I paid something like 180€ for my IK Multimedia iLoud micro speakers that retail for 349€.

There is an audio company called Cubilux that I discovered during my 2022 winter tour of Atlanta. They make some really good audio products that I have fallen for.
I have a DAC (Digital to Audio converter) from them that cost $11 and I've since received nearly all of their devices for product testing. I aran a competition so other producers could try some of their products for free. Cubilux is an incredible brand and I will put their website address here for those interested in their high fidelity audio devices.

I have an 88-key digital piano that I use in Germany. I also have an upright 88-key in England for piano practise and to create melodies for new music. The one in the image is my favourite because the sound is replicated to that of a genuine upright. It is the best instrument that I own.
I have a Rode NT-USB Mini microphone. It has an internal pop sheild and an 80Hz cutoff filter making it great for podcasting and works well for vocal recording. I tap books with a spoon, hit the remote control, jingle my keyring, and sometimes clap my hands for additional drum and percussion sounds.
Having a decent USB microphone speeds up the process because it uses a simple USB cable that I carry in my organiser. I like adding an organic element to some tracks for 'bounce' and extra movement. Layered samples with spooky sounds or cutlery noises are great for this. Additionally this microphone has a 3.5mm connection for direct monitoring when recording vocals or doing a podcast or other live recording.

I have a clean and simple setup that works well. I can jump on a train and get creative without having to carry more than the tablet and a set of earphones. I can record music and vocals in any space with the use of AI. It is now possible to remove echoes and background noise using my phone and a couple of apps.
My main instrument for production is Uphoria VST from Angelic Vibes. It has sounds that are processed and ready to go. Real pianos, guitars, plucks, brass, bells and so on were recorded live and saved for musicians who play with MIDI instruments. The sounds take a few seconds to load because the quality is really high. Or my computer is dead.
It has been great since downloading and there's a link to purchase a copy below. Angelic Vibes created another VST called 808 Bloodline that's packed with hard hitting 808 bass sounds. It has every type of dark bass that I need for trap music. Every sound I use is inside Uphoria and if you buy a copy using the link it helps me out. I also use their effects plug-in called Neo.
There are versions for Windows and Mac users - I have used it exclusively since November 2022 in all of my productions.

This is the Cubilux interface that I use when making music. The little 192KHz 24 Bit device without installation drivers. It is used with headphones, earphones and with my iLoud micro speakers. When I visit a production studio I use the same device and it works perfectly. Cubilux have done nothing but impress me with their equipment.
I bought a pair of Beyerdynamic DT240 Pro headphones and they are better than expected. The frequency range is from 5Hz up to 35,000KHz. If anybody is after a budget set of cans I recommend these highly. They are similar to the Audio Technica ATHM50X but with a bit more low end that I like.
I have been toying with the idea of music production since 2020 when the epidemic began. I didn't intend to create music for profit but the responses I had made me take it more seriously. I now have a music lawyer and am registered with PRS, MCPS, UTM and recently Collabhouse to get my work into playlists.
Fast forward to 2023 and I can quickly create a piece of music using the internal speakers within 1-2 hours. When the main tracks are complete I check the mix on earphones or headphones then continue arranging the music until it is completed.
If you are interested in purchasing audio for your business promotion please get in contact via the instagram link at the top of this page. You can also get in contact via email and I will leave a link at the end of the write up.

Most instrumentals are made within a day or two. I usually create one new track every week and fit it around other work schedules.
You may have noticed //ON BEATS is an add-on to the //ON CARS Remapping website. I have done this to save money and did the same for the other small business ventures on here.

About me..
I work full time tuning car software for increased power/economy. I have a network of garages and mobile tuners across the UK and now in Europe. The garages have vehicle programming tools linked to my master programming tool for Stage 1 software modification. People join and buy the remapping tools then offer software tuning or more commonly known as Remapping as an addition to their garage services.
I also run a car rental company for a friend at the Nürburgring race track in Germany. EVN Ring Rentals has purpose built and modified rental cars for people to enjoy the most insane circuit in the world. I drive it myself at least once or twice weekly, and offer instruction and taxi rides for newbies on private track day events.
Music was my first passion and I am really excited to be working in this field again. You will also find my car test reviews on this website and may enjoy reading a couple of them.
//ON HOODIES is an idea I had during the pandemic and it's just a small side job.
I consider myself an active charity supporter and do a lot of work with the homeless in Germany. I buy them food, drinks, and clothes. I also hand out bedding to people on the streets when I can.
Production equipment that I use
Microsoft Surface Pro 5 with 8GB RAM (no internal fan)
Beyerdynamic DT240 Headphones
Uphoria VST plug-in from Angelic Vibes
KZ ZS10 Pro IEM's, Rode NT-USB Microphone
My own drums and sound kits that are available for sale
IK Multimedia iLoud micro monitors (highly recommended)
