Anybody who knows about Cars should know what a Mercedes-Benz is. They are one of the best production manufacturers in Germany and are renowned all over the world as one of the greatest Cars to buy.
This morning I was handed the keys to the C-Klasse and was not prepared for what unfolded.. This Car was seriously built by Satan in the deepest layer of Hell. What sort of fucking noise is that! The exhaust note from these things are seriously brutal and I'm surprised it is even legal. WTF!
Cold Start is even more savage - which maniac at Mercedes said ''yes that is okay'' then proceeded to hand build more of them for the General Public? This is ridiculously loud! Switching off the Exhaust Button doesn't make much difference either. The Seats are seriously comfortable and are an upgrade from the 2017 C63-S that I previously drove. They offer additional lumbar support and are far superior to the original ones that come with the Car.
Remember if you are using a Laptop/PC Device you will see all of the images while reading, but if you are on a Mobile device you will find the extra pictures at the end of the Review! This is a daily ride that has Carbon Ceramic Brakes, a Super Stiff Chassis and a 4.0 V8 Bi-Turbo that 'takes' you places with nothing but giggles. For this Review I drove around the local Nürburgring area and also to Koblenz and back to open the throttle on the well-known German Autobahn! We do have unrestricted areas which can be used to explore your Car at a faster speed, but I would never suggest testing the max km/h ever here. You can book a Trackday and use Döttinger Höhe for that stuff ;-). I really had great fun out in this Car and my friend Udo made for a great passenger as we thundered with the ferocity of Hades pushing our souls at Warp Speed along these incredible roads. I think we should get on with the main points in this Review.. The Chassis
For what looks like a Four Seater Limousine it is a ridiculously tight chassis that can be thrown around with the same gusto as the Coupé Models. The handling in this is a pleasant surprise, but what else should we expect from Mercedes? They create powerful weapons that are not just straight line rockets - they are also incredibly capable on Track because I see a lot of this exact chassis and model often on the Nürburgring Nordschleife. The Body In honesty it is not the most beautiful looking Car that I have reviewed. I say this because I am quite biased towards Hot Hatches and Sports Coupé's. Buying a Car is always down to personal preference and this was chosen for its functionality, and a lot of people in Germany seem to prefer Four Door Cars. I don't find the car aesthetically pleasing but the front bonnet, bumper and splitter are hot! I also love the choice of wheels - a pleasing visual layer on top of the Carbon Ceramics.. The Throttle They shouldn't have bothered fitting a gas pedal to be honest - a simply switch would have been enough because THIS THING JUST WHEELSPINS EVERYWHERE!! I don't know how to make it drive normally :-/ its like it doesn't want to be driven normally. This Car is fucking lethal, and would be seriously dangerous in the wrong hands! It doesn't have the refinement of a Lamborghini, or the pleasant linear power delivery of a Porsche 911/911 Turbo. The Torque is DISGUSTING - but I like it :P We haven't tuned the Car yet but I wont be doing the post-tune Test Drive at all. I am just being honest, and after driving several Cars this is the first Factory Vehicle that is actually too much for me. This Car is completely fucked up - in a good way - but it is too much to comprehend. The Exhaust Do I need to comment? This thing is ridiculous, and the Exhaust doesn't make a 'note' as such - it is just thunder from 1000 to around 7000 RPM. Whoever hasn't heard one of these Engines must be living under a Rock. Mercedes are not playing anymore.. this is WAR against every manufacturer who wants to sell a Family Sized Saloon. Well this was another cool Car to drive. I had a great time and took it to the local Car Wash before handing back the keys! Oh, I forgot to say these things DRINK fuel but I will do my best to cure this when Remapping the Engine next month!
My next Review will hopefully be the Manthey Racing BMW M2 that I have been driving for the past month (April 2019). Once I have driven a Lap I will get the write up completed and posted online! Thanks for reading ;-) Nicholas Lawrence web - www.on-cars.com email - nick@on-cars.com |
